How well are journalists covering Islam and Muslims? Today it’s crucial that reporters get it right – and have the right resources.
Houston SPJ invites you to attend “Muslims and the Media,” a panel discussion of how well the media is covering Muslims and how to ensure reporting is thorough, accurate and unbiased. Learn how to find credible sources and information.
The event is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 25, at the Ripley House Neighborhood Center, 4410 Navigation Blvd #278, room 135.
Join us to hear from Muslim reporters and communications experts. The panel will be moderated by Ruth Nasrullah, past president of Houston SPJ and columnist for the online magazine MuslimMatters.
Panelists include Mustafaa Carroll, executive director of the Texas chapter of the Council for American-Islamic Relations; Nora Olabi, Houston Chronicle reporter; and Shiyam Galyon, with the Houston chapter of the Syrian American Council.
RSVP by Wednesday to email@example.com.
