Featuring local broadcasters, politicians and the amazing (self-described) talent of local PR pros, the Gridiron Show is a no-holds barred entertainment spectacle, filled with parody songs, hilarious sketches, video shorts and a wacked out “news”cast – if you think cable news is great fiction, wait until you see our news!
Now in our 64th year as one of the longest running Press Club Gridiron Shows in the nation, proceeds from the Gridiron Show go toward funding journalism scholarships.
New this year is the Leon Hale Journalists of Tomorrow Scholarship. At age 92, Hale retired from the Houston Chronicle earlier this year. For 65 years, Hale has been writing snippets of Texas history and of his friends, the “old timers” at the ice house, of rattlesnakes and Baptist prayers, of donkeys in heat and a rat in the attic. This year, Gridiron pays special tribute to this Texas legend who has entertained us for decades with his prolific and personal writings.
