SPJ Region 8 conference fast approaching

SAN ANTONIO – Rooms are still available for the Region 8 Society of Professional Journalists conference, which will take place May 3-4 at the Marriott Plaza hotel.

We’ve now added two local politicians, Mayor Julián Castro and County Judge Nelson Wolff, to those who’ll be speaking during the weekend. Castro will welcome attendees before University of Texas professor Paula Poindexter presents the keynote speech on Saturday; Wolff will greet conference-goers at a welcome party Friday night. Both have a ton of experience with the media, both local and national and will share their perspectives.

They join a wide variety of professional journalists from across the country scheduled to present during the conference. There are still rooms available in the conference block at the Marriott Plaza (call 210-229-1000 to reserve) and the early bird registration rate for the conference lasts until April 29.
