EVOLUTIONS IN JOURNALISM, AN EVENING REVIEW

Please join us in celebrating the 40-plus-year career in journalism of local reporter, author and raconteur Gary Taylor

Thursday, July 12

6:30 p.m., preceded by 6:00-6:30 SPJ chapter open business meeting

The State Bar & Lounge

909 Texas Avenue(in the old Rice Hotel building, above Sambucca, use side street door)

Gary, a fixture of Houston news reporting since the 1970s, has covered a wide range of topics from the courthouse to the BP oil spill, and freed a prisoner from Huntsville in between (legally). He is also the author of “I, the People: How Marvin Zindler Busted the Best Little Whorehouse inTexas” and “Luggage By Kroger: A True Crime Memoir.” For our SPJ event, he plans to open a dialogue on changes in journalism, how the craft has evolved, and the  corporatization of news, for good or bad.

Journalists, former journalists and non-journalists are welcome.

Please RSVP to SPJ Houston Pro Chapter Secretary Katharine Fraserat katharine_fraser@platts.com or 713-828-0569.
